HP has named us a Sustainability Sales Advocate Partner

A designation is only worth what it changes for the people we serve. Here is what HP recognised, and more usefully, what it means when you are trying to lower the cost and the footprint of print in your own office.

The short version

Allied Document Solutions has earned the HP Amplify Impact FY26 Sustainability Sales Advocate Partner designation. HP awards it on two things: completing their full sustainability training programme, and demonstrating a real track record of sustainability focused sales rather than a stated intention to do some.

What it means practically is that when you ask us how to cut the energy, the paper and the waste out of your print environment, you are getting answers from people HP has verified, with numbers you can put in front of your own board.

What the designation actually is

HP Amplify Impact is the sustainability arm of HP's global partner programme. Partners are assessed on their own operations and on how well they can help customers make measurable progress, then placed in tiers. Sustainability Sales Advocate sits above general participation and below Sustainability Sales Leader, which is the tier we are working toward next.

The recognition letter is signed by Mary Beth Walker, Vice President of HP Partner Experience and Enablement, and dated 18 March 2026.

We are a small, locally owned dealer in Swedesboro. Designations from a manufacturer the size of HP tend to flow to very large national resellers, so this one matters to us.

Why a customer should care, and where it genuinely does not matter

Plenty of vendor badges change nothing for the buyer. We would rather be straight about which parts of this one do.

✓
It matters if you have to report on anything

If your organisation files sustainability disclosures, answers customer questionnaires, or bids for work where environmental criteria are scored, print is a line you have to account for. We can supply device level energy figures, cartridge return volumes and paper consumption data in a form you can actually submit.

✓
It matters if you are choosing equipment now

The gap between an efficient machine and a careless choice is real money over a five year term, not just carbon. Sleep mode behaviour, duplex defaults, and how a device is configured on day one drive both numbers in the same direction.

✗
It does not matter if you just need a machine that works

If your priority is a reliable copier at a fair price with a technician who shows up, this badge is not the reason to call us. Our response times and our contract terms are. We would rather say that than pretend a sustainability credential answers a question you did not ask.

The parts of print where the footprint actually sits

Most of the environmental impact of office print is not where people assume. It is concentrated in four places.

Where it sitsWhat moves the number
Paper Usually the largest single factor. Duplex on by default, print release so abandoned jobs never print, and removing personal desktop printers that quietly double volume.
Device energy Sleep and wake behaviour matters more than the headline wattage, because an office machine spends most of its life idle rather than printing.
Cartridges Genuine HP cartridges can be returned free through HP Planet Partners, including empties collected on our service routes. Original cartridges also contain recycled content, which third party remanufactured stock generally cannot document.
Hardware at end of life A leased fleet gets returned, refurbished and redeployed rather than landfilled. This is one of the clearer environmental arguments for leasing over buying.
Reporting on print this year?
We can pull your current energy, paper and cartridge figures and show you where the reducible waste actually is.

How to tell a real sustainability answer from a marketing one

This is the useful part, and it applies whoever you buy from, including when you are comparing us against someone else. Ask any print vendor these four questions and listen for specifics.

  1. "What is the return path for empty cartridges, and who pays for it?" A good answer names the programme and says whether collection is included. A vague answer about being environmentally conscious is not an answer.
  2. "Can you give me annual paper and energy figures for the fleet you are proposing?" If a vendor cannot produce numbers before you sign, they will not produce them for your report afterwards.
  3. "What happens to this equipment at the end of the term?" Returned and refurbished is a very different outcome from collected and scrapped, and the contract usually says which.
  4. "Will you configure duplex and sleep settings on installation, or leave the defaults?" Defaults are where most of the avoidable waste lives. It takes a technician ten minutes and almost nobody does it unasked.
Worth saying plainly

The most sustainable machine is the one you do not need. Before quoting anyone a fleet, the honest first step is looking at whether the volume justifies the devices already in the building. That conversation sometimes ends with us selling less equipment, which is the correct outcome when it is true.

What comes next

The next tier is Sustainability Sales Leader, which raises the bar on both training and demonstrated customer outcomes. We are working toward it, and the work that gets us there is the same work that lowers a customer's bill: fewer devices, better configured, with the consumables loop closed.

Thank you to every customer across South Jersey, Philadelphia and Delaware who has let us take that approach with their print environment. The designation is HP's, but the track record behind it is yours as much as ours.

Common questions

What is HP Amplify Impact?

It is HP's sustainability programme for channel partners. It assesses a partner's own environmental practices and their ability to help customers make measurable progress, then recognises them in tiers. Sustainability Sales Advocate is the tier we currently hold.

Does this change what I pay?

No. It is a recognition of training and track record, not a pricing programme. What it changes is the quality of the answer you get when you ask about energy, paper or disposal.

Can you help with our sustainability reporting?

Yes, for the print portion. We can provide device energy data, paper consumption and cartridge return volumes for equipment we supply and service, in a format suitable for a disclosure or an RFP response.

Is leasing better environmentally than buying?

Generally yes, for one specific reason: leased equipment is returned at the end of the term and goes through refurbishment and redeployment rather than being disposed of by whoever owns it. Purchased machines too often end their life in a storeroom and then a skip.

Do remanufactured cartridges help or hurt?

It depends entirely on the supplier, and most cannot document their process. Genuine HP cartridges contain recycled content and have a free, traceable return path. If cost is the reason you are considering alternatives, the better lever is usually reducing pages printed rather than changing what goes in the machine.
